We had to rush out before sunrise because the shoji screens let in all the light. The elevator was out of order, so we had to haul our luggage up what felt like Mount Everest. The walls were thin, so we could hear everything – it was like a symphony of snores. There were a few dust bunnies hiding around. The laundry service was a lifesaver, though. We walked to the zoo and had a great time; the subway was close but we kept missing the train – three times!”
